"Men also have a territorial ritual they indulge in when choosing a urinal. If there are five urinals in a row and the first man comes in to use one, he'll choose the one furthest from the door, so he's away from newcomers. The next arrival will choose the urinal furthest from the first man, and the next man will choose the one midway between the other two. A fourth man will usually choose to use a cubicle rather than stand beside a complete stranger who might look at him. And men always look silently directly in front and never talk to strangers. Never, Men's motto is 'Death before eye contact." - From Why Men Don't Have A Clue and Women Always Need More Shoes by Allan and Barbara Pease.

Thanks again.

It's an extension of 'death before dishonour' - it is better to die than be dishonoured. The writer is jokingly suggesting that males would sooner die than establish eye contact with a fellow micturator in a urinal,

Note the advisability of giving context in the first post, Deepurple.
