    Default Adele accent

Wiki says: Adele Laurie Blue Adkins was born in Tottenham, London, England.
But she doesn't sound British when she is singing. Can someone explain to me why?

Many singers use an accent that they think seems appropriate for the type of song they are singing.

I've always suspected that the Brits were just putting us on with that whole "accent" thing. It sure does disappear when they sing.

Elton John is the classic example of that.
