Hi, I teach English to hearing impaired students that attend vocational school in Austria. The students have extremely diverse knowledge of/difficulty using English and German, and some of them are originally from other countries, such as Turkey or the former Yugoslavian states. Normally they only have to memorize vocabulary in order to pass their classes and most have a really hard time learning grammar rules in order to really use the language. Does anyone have advice or experience working with the hearing impaired in such a situation? Educational tools or methods?
Thanks in advance!

I am wondering about what they want to get from the class. Are they able to speak?
Or do they want to write in English? I would concentrate on pictures and the written word. It would be good to meet them individually for, at least a few sessions to determine their needs more accurately and to develop a curriculum to address their learning goals within their limitations with hearing.:)
