Eg. As much as I want to, I can't.

Exactly when and how is 'as much as' used?

Also, is 'I love reading as much as I love watching TV' correct? Instead of using 'I love' twice, can I use it once? Like 'I love reading as much as watching TV'?

It just got very confusing. Please help.

I think it's OK, but I prefer the original.

Both look fine to me. (btw, isn't "as much as" a comparison term and not an idiom?)

I love watching TV as much as reading.

This is as much as that. (could be weight, price etc.)

That is as much as it can take.

"how much can I have?" As much as you want.- This one isn't a comparison. But I agree what you initially wrote wasn't an idiom... I'm not sure if my last two are Idioms, but they aren't comparisons at least! It took a good long think to use "as much as" outside of comparison terms. Quite enjoyable!

Cheers, Kay.

Ya definitely not a idiom.

This is the only one I can think of: 'As much as I love eating fries, I am getting fatter by the day."

'I love reading as much as I love watching TV' is correct. :)
