    drinking binge

"The man went on a drinking binge after his wife died."

Does 'go on a drinking binge' mean that he became alcoholic?
Or is it just a short-term solution? Thank you.

"Drinking binge" ="drinking session" = "a period of excessive drinking(alcoholic drinks)". To my knowledge, it's usually short term and not addictive.
