For past's "would like", if it's not backshifted, does it have to be the same "would like"? The direct speech might have been like this.
- Kate asked me "Would you like your chocolate ice cream in a cup or cone?"
Or does it have to be "Kate asked me whether I wanted my chocolate..."
ex) Kate asked me whether I would like my chocolate ice cream in a cup or cone.
