Hello,

I'd like to learn to use the words "straight" and 'solid' properly. Do all of my examples sound OK?

(1) I played video games for a solid 5 hours.
(2) I played video games for a straight 5 hours.
(3 I played video games for 5 hours solid / straight.
(4 I played video games for 5 solid/straight hours.

I don't like (2) and (4), but I'm not sure they're wrong.

Thank you.

I prefer "hours straight" or "solid hours." Not the other way around.

Yes.

My own order of preference is 3 (straight), 2, 3 (solid). I don't think I'd use 1 or 4.
