    bring to X for

IŽd like to know the difference between to bring TO and to bring FOR.

I will bring a present FOR him?

When do I use bring to sb?

    Thanks.

In your sentence, "for" means the present is intended to be used, enjoyed or possessed by the recipient (the person receiving it). "Bring to" means deliver something so as to reach that person.

When you do something for someone else, use 'for':

    Example 1

Oh, my goodness! You have a broken arm. Let me carry your drink for you. I will bring it to your table for you. You don't have to bring it. I will do it for you.

    Example 2

I made this cake for you! I did it because I like you. I wanted to give you a gift. This cake is a present for you.

When you take something in the direction of someone, use 'to':

    Example

Oh, please, don't get up. Stay seated. I will bring your birthday present (over there) to you.

    Cas :D
