The first car appeared on British roads in 1888. By the year 2000 there may be as many as 29 million vehicles on British roads.
Alternative forms of transport should be encouraged and international laws introduced to control car ownership and use.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Humans have always used many mode of transportation since the dawn of civilisation. Transportation such as horse-drawn chariot and horseback riding has been utilized since ancient time. These have remained unchanged until the 1800s, when Western scientists and inventors created the first mechanical transportation. These forms of transport are able to exceed the capability of pack animal transportation.
The first mechanized transportations were powered by steam engine. However, until the 1900s, mankind found another source of energy, fossil fuels. The three main form of fossil fuel energy are coals, natural gas and oils. The main advantage of fossil fuels source is that it yields far more energy as compared to other form of energy sources. This factor help to improve the economy and living standard of a nation as it can help to get people from their home to their workplace as well as sending food and needed supplies from one location to the next in a relatively short period of time. However, the burning of fossil fuel came with a price, environmental and energy crisis. Increase use of cars, causes traffic jam, noise and air pollution and global warming. These can lead to environmental issue such as rising sea level and climate change as well as global health related issue such as lung and skin cancer.
International law and education must be introduced to discourage car ownership. Solution such as introducing law whereby one car have to have more than 2 passengers or transportation of items weighing more than 30 kilograms whenever driven. Failure to do so will face fines and penalties. Alternate forms of energy have to be found due to dwindling source and skyrocketing price of fossil fuels. Other energy sources include Biofuels from plants as well as solar energy, water and air. However, these alternative energies do not yield nearly as enough energy or energy source such as solar energy are highly dependent on the time of the day.
If we were to weigh the advantage and disadvantage of alternative energy. There are no doubt that alternative energies are better as they emit less harmful gas emission, produces less noises as well as being a great renewable energy source. I do believe that a combination of alternative energies can overcome the disadvantages that each form of alternative energies faces.
In conclusion, car ownership has to be strictly regulated and alternative energy has to be found as soon as possible for the future of humanity and the planet. It is all up to the decision of our global leader to decide the fate of our future and wellbeing.
