    Default Verbs Question? Auxiliary and Main Verbs.

    What are the infinitives of the following verbs?

    “We’re setting off at 7.00am. Do you mind getting up so early?”

    1. Auxiliary - are is wrong
    2. Main - Get is wrong

    Do you fancy going to a Science of Mind conference this weekend?” my wife asked.

    2) auxiliary is do
    3) Main is???? (its not go)

    I tried the following above but were wrong.
    Please shed some light on ths.

    1. Auxiliaries: 'are' (BE) and 'do' DO)

    2. Main: 'setting' (SET) and 'mind' (MIND)

    "Do you fancy going to a Science of Mind conference this weekend?” my wife asked.


    2) auxiliary is 'do' (DO)

    3) Main is 'fancy (FANCY)

    The infinitive, in capital letters above and below, is the base form, the form found in the dictionary. From this form we can construct all the other forms - for regular verbs:

    PLAY: play, plays, playing, played
    WORK: work, works, working, worked.
