Hello,

I'd be very grateful if someone could explain to me what the difference between "trial period" and 'probation" is (when talking about a period of time when you're watched to see if you'tre suitable for your new position). Which is more common?

I'd say "trial period" is more common.

Thank you! If so, how should I refer to it? Are the following sentences fine?

(1) I'm working a trial period.
(2) I'm into my trial period
(3) I'm having (?) a trial period.

I'd use I'm working/doing my trial/probationary period.
