Default Fire Extinguishing ... media or agents?

Can you please tell me what the difference is between these two? or...
Are agent and medium synonyms in this context?

It's a safety data sheet...

The exact context is the following:

Suitable extinguishing media (or agent? ) : carbon-dioxide (CO2), extinguishing powder, water spray,
fire-fighting foam, sand.

Unsuitable extinguishing media (or agent): Do not use direct water jets on the burning product; they
could cause splattering and spread the fire.
Simultaneous use of foam and water on the same surface is to be avoided as water destroys
the foam.

Thank you! Saw that page already but still not convinced... I've seen other pages that were confusing :(
