    Default see through their hands

I might be asking a stupid question, but what does this line mean? Do they cover their hands with the cloak and see what's behind them? I don't get it.

ex)Professor Susumu Tachi of Tokyo University made an amazing coat. It is just like Harry Potter's invisible cloak,..It shows an image of everything behind the wearer. So, the wearer looks invisible...Maybe someday scientists will really find a way to make us invisible. This would help doctors. They could see through their hands during an operation..

Their hands would not block their view during an operation, because their hands would be invisible.
