    beneath a tree

We say 'He's sitting under a tree'. Is 'He's sitting beneath a tree' good English?

    Thank you in advance.

    Re: beneath a tree

It is good English, just rather more formal/literary.

    Re: beneath a tree

    Thank you so much, 5jj.
    Another question:
They kill antelopes for the wool beneath/under their stomachs.
Do both prepositions work for this context?

    Thank you again.

    Re: beneath a tree

Not being an expert on antelope or wool, I don't know. My feeling is that it should be 'on' or 'from'.
