    how I did not

    Dear teachers,

You can imagine how I didn't really enjoy the special.

I know how used this way can be following by positive sentence. But can it be, used this way, followed by a negative sentence?

Looking forward to hearing from you.
    Thank you in advance.

    Re: how I did not

Yes, but it would sound better to my ear if what I must imagine can be summed up in a single word, and if the negative is implied in a verb (rather than using 'not + <verb>):

'You can imagine how much I disliked....'

'You can imagine how little I liked...'

    Re: how I did not

    Hi BobK,

Should I rewrite the sentence this way:

You can imagine how little I enjoy the special.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
    Thank you in advance.

    Re: how I did not

Yes, but are you sure about the tense?

    Compare:
Every year I go the the School Play. You can imagine how little I enjoy the spectacle. [present]
    and
I had to watch while she made a fool of herself in public. You can imagine how little I enjoyed the spectacle.

(If you've learnt by ear, it's easy to miss the past ending, in the context of the following 'the'; but it's there.)

    Dear BobK,

Thank you so much for your help.
And thank you for pointing out my mistake. It should be "enjoyed".

    Have a nice weekend.
