Default What words do you love?

Yes, I meant to ask that. I am rather fond of compound words so here are some of my favorites, in nor particular order:

    timepiece
    peppermint
    scatterbrained
    telltale
    spatterdash
    greengrocer

    What about you?

I like phrasal verbs and use them so much instead of the ordinary verbs.

    call on
    pay off
    get through
    go on
    put off
    count on

This is the beauty of of this language lain, diversely interesting!

I just love phrasal verbs. I especially like trying to imagine how they came to have their present meanings. "get" is just so wonderfully adaptable ..... but I recognise that Phrasal verbs can be frustrating for non-natives.

I get on really well with my youngest brother.
Sorry, I can't talk right now I have to get on with my homework.
All this work is getting on top of me.

I like topical portmanteau words like mac-lash (Apple backlash) and sexpat (sex tourist). They have a short shelf life but are entertaining.

    @waflob

Woody as in made of wood, sturdy and of better quality compared to something made of cheap metal; tinny?
