    Default Zero article!

    Is the sentence : " Washing machine is used for washing clothes . " correct?
    I mean if I can omit the article in front of the word washing machine.

    It's a countable noun. Therefore you must use an article or use the plural form of the noun. Though I've seen it omitted before the word "man". Let's see what native speakers have to say on this.
