Default economy section/ economical section ?

"He always read the economical section in the newspaper."

The above sentence is from my vocabulary book for high schoolers and it sounds strange to me. I've learned that 'economical' means '
not spending more money than necessary', so I think the word in that sentence should be 'economy' not 'economical'.

    Am I right? or....Am I just
    ignorant?

You're right. Economical is not appropriate. Here, they're called the "financial pages" but I think the finance section sounds better than "economy section". That makes me think of the cheaper seats on a commercial aeroplane.

You are right in saying that 'economical' is wrong, but most newspapers have a 'financial', 'finance' or 'business' section rather than an 'economy' or 'economic(s)' section.

The New York Times places its financial, economic and general business news in its "Business Section."
