[Vocabulary] economy section/ economical section ?

"He always read the economical section in the newspaper."

The above sentence is from my vocabulary book for high schoolers and it sounds strange to me. I've learned that 'economical' means 'not spending more money than necessary', so I think the word in that sentence should be 'economy' not 'economical'.

Am I right? or....Am I just ignorant?

You're right. Economical is not appropriate. Here, they're called the "financial pages" but I think the finance section sounds better than "economy section". That makes me think of the cheaper seats on a commercial aeroplane.

You are right in saying that 'economical' is wrong, but most newspapers have a 'financial', 'finance' or 'business' section rather than an 'economy' or 'economic(s)' section.

The New York Times places its financial, economic and general business news in its "Business Section."
