    Default 'on' or 'about'

I would like to know if there is a difference between the preposition 'on' and 'about' when we want to talk about a precisely topic.Which one should be chosen:

e.g.I would like to know something more on/about this topic.

We use about to talk about ordinary, more general kinds of communication.
On suggests that a book, talk etc is more serious, suitable for specialists.

1)A book for children about Africa and its people.

    A textbook on African history.

    2)A conversation about money.

    A lecture on economics
