    verb tenses

    Are the following sentences all gramatically correct? Thank you so much.

    1. It rained all night.
    2. It was raining all night.
    3. It had rained all night.
    4. It had been raining all night.

    They are all grammatically acceptable, but they will be used in different contexts.
