    What exactly does the phrase "laugh through tears" mean?

    Can you give us some context please? Post the whole sentence where you saw the phrase. Although there's a good chance that it only has one meaning, as always on this forum, context is important.

    In spite of the problems they may have had, they were still able to enjoy life togther and see the humor in life.

    So "tears" here is a kinda metaphor for problems and difficulties that people have in life?
