Default Question about name of position / title

    Hi,

    Should it be -
deputy White House chief of staff
    or
White House deputy chief of staff ?

I read this in the news - Rove is deputy White House chief of staff.

    Thanks

The White House Chief of Staff is assisted by one or more Deputy White House Chiefs of Staff (singular, Deputy White House Chief of Staff).

Thanks Casiopea. I missed the significance of
"one or more", if any. Somehow in my mind
'deputy' has to go with 'chief of staff'. I am
not able to rationalize it though.

Is the logic here same as in
    - He is a 4-star Army general. (4star general in the army)
    not, "Army 4-star general."

The title is White House Chief of Staff. "Deputy" is added to that title:

White House Chief of Staff => Deputy White House Chief of Staff

The title is Army General, the kind 4-star. "4-star" is added to that title:

    4-star Army General
