Exclamation The name of a small machine

    Hi
What's the name of the small machine, mostly could be found in stores, that enables people - in case of having a debit card- to transfer a sum of money to the seller's bank account?

They come under the term "Merchant Services" and are called "Credit Card Machines", sometimes "Credit Card Readers", "Chip and Pin Machines" (rarely). Recently, I have been hearing "Point of Sale equipment" but I think that might apply to the new technology where you can use your mobile phone to make payments.

To be honest, I have rarely heard any term used- they just bring them to the table or they're on the counter.

I only know about them from my job in a shop. We just call them the "card machines". There may be an acronym though I didn't find CCR or CCM coming up as one on Google, for anything related to these kinds of machines.

I haven't met them, but they fit the terms an earlier post suggested: Credit Card Reader/Machine. I imagine that those bits of alphabet soup figure largely in training manuakls that go with this sort of equipment.
