    Re: how to thank?

    Hi aga,
A belated welcome to the forums.

You can click on the "like" button under a person's post, if you want. That could mean "thank you" or "I agree with you."

You can also reply with a new post that says "Thanks!"
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

    Re: how to thank?

You could reply with a new post, but I don't think this is optimal just to say thanks. It would tend to clutter up the board with posts that really add nothing. Sometimes dozens of people follow a thread. That's a dozen people who click on thread, scroll down, etc. just to find that the new post is only a thank you.

Unfortunately (in my continuing opinion) the "Thanks" button has now gone and is replaced by "Like". Fortunately, though, if you are the asker of the question and you click on the "Like" button, your respondent will almost certainly take that as being a "thank you", and you won't be wasting the time of all those other people who were following the thread.

I can see your point, but Thank you is one of the functions of the button.
