    take/have?

    Hello.Which one is correct:
    to take a seat
    or
    to have a seat
    ?

Thank you for answering in advance!

about.com says the take-version is correct.I say both are.

    They are both acceptable.
It would be useful if you could post a URL if you are going to cite a website. It's quite possible that about.com takes no view on this whatsoever, but that a user of that site has given that opinion. In the latter case, it means almost nothing unless one knows something about the user.
