    Default should have/logical deduction

    Are these correct:

    1-Jeff told me two months ago that his article was almost done. He should have finished it a long time ago.

    2-Jeff told me five weeks ago that he was leaving his flat in a month. He should have left last week.

    In these sentences the speaker is deducing something on the basis of information he has.
