Hello!

Is it grammatically correct to write the following sentence in my lesson plan form to show the role of my students in a certian activity?

Studnets to underline the nouns and the verbs.

Welcome to Using English.

:hi:

I would suggest "Students will..." or "Students should..." or even "Students will be instructed to..."

or even the command form: Instruct students to...

I don't know if you usually write full sentences in your lesson plan.

(I know your spelling of "students" was just a typo.)

Thank you for your input. So, is my sentence wrong? Or acceptable?

Do you usually write your lesson plans with full sentences? Or do you usually use a more abbreviated "headline" style form?

We write full sentences. But, in case I choose to use a 'headline' style, would it be ok to write it this way: Students to + verb?

Thank you for your cooperation.

Yes, using a headline style, you could write "Students to underline nouns, verbs." If you're going to use that style, though, use it all the way — omit the articles and so forth.

For your original question, I really suggest you change "to" to "will" and then you'll be fine. "Students will underline... "

I have merged the two threads with the same question. Please do NOT post the same question in multiple locations!

Thank you. It is clear now.

I posted it in another location because I thought you won't come back to the first post and I still needed more clarification.

We all do. Time zone must be playing a role, too. Here it is GMT+3.
