    Hey,

    Is it correct to say "making lunch/dinner"?

    e.g; I tried to make lunch.

    Yes. There are other possible words but "make" is fine when talking about cooking.

    I made lunch.
    He is making dinner.
    They made a cake.
    I will make risotto tonight.

    ... for the use of 'make' that means 'cook' or 'prepare'.

    When, without further context, I saw the expression 'making lunch' I thought of a sentence such as 'I tried to make lunch, but the traffic was so bad that they were paying the bill by the time I arrived.'
