    Default is my answer correct?

It is even.......... a poem than a picture to me

    A) less
    B) more
    C) like
    D) better

My teacher said B is the answer but I think A is also possible. So is my answer correct?

The sentence sounds awkward to me with 'even', However, both 'more' and 'less' are possible - with different meanings, of course.

I prefer A ) "less" if there has to be one correct answer. I agree that "even" doesn't sound natural. But it's the inclusion of "even" that makes A the right answer.

    Mary: That's not a picture.
    John: Maybe it's a poem?
Mary: It is even less a poem than a picture to me.

A dialogue with "more" would not be as natural, I think. Maybe someone (your teacher, for example) could attempt one?

How about the dialogue below? I don't think it's really less natural than the 'less' version.

    Mary: That's a picture.
John: Its more a poem than a picture to me.
Fed: It's even more a poem than a picture to me.

I think both would be more likely with like before 'a poem'.

I don't understand what Fed is implying. He seems to be merely repeating what John has said (with "even" added for some reason).
Is he saying that he feels even more than John that it's more a poem than a picture?

Yes. It's a clumsily constructed sentence. I was merely suggesting that 'more' was possible.

The original question is not one that I would have asked anyway. I think that the person who wrote it has striven to set up a natural situation in which there is only one correct answer, and not succeeded,
