a few sentences with the verb 'trust'

    Dear teachers

    Do these sentences read well?
Do they have the same meaning?

I trust you won the game last night.
It seems you won the game last night.
I believe you won the game last night [as you sound so happy this morning].

    Thank you

    Thank you
The first expresses a hope. The speaker has no idea and there is nothing in the listener's behaviour to give a clue.

The second one is quite rarely used - perhaps the speaker is reading the sports pages of a newspaper. It could also be used because of the other person's attitude - but it sounds as though the speaker expects applause for guessing right.

The third seems rather odd. It suggests that the speaker was challenged to guess. The normal way of expressing a guess based on the other person's attitude is 'It looks like/as if/as though you won the game last night'.

Very accurate answer, Bob, Thank you! And I was going to compare it with 'hope'. Funny!
