This may require some knowledge about the difference between naturalists and realists, so it may be a technical question. If someone knows about the meaning of "reveal the dominant states of things in all areas of life", please let me know.

ex)Reaching beyond realism, the naturalists tried to illustrate as faithfully as possible whatever was observable to them within their literary works. They wanted to reveal the dominant states of things in all areas of life. While the realists tried to evoke the impression that the characters really exist and that the events narrated are the events of ordinary experience, the naturalists wanted to give a strictly objective depiction of the struggle against nature as a hopeless fight, believing that human behavior is determined by the environment. The reason for this shift of the fundamental idea of realism was the visible decline of the living conditions of the lower classes in the 19th century. Large cities became the focus of literature due to miserable housing conditions, factories, diseases, and widespread hunger.

Just a single mistranslation out of focus could make the entire paragraph vague. The translation for "dominant" goes "primary" in Korean, so it made the whole paragraph vague. Realism is based on scientific views of things, while naturalism is on acribing the causes of things to genetics or the environment.
So if you saw a person who fell ill or poor, realists would just describe his current state, while naturalists would depict the reason to nature(environment) or his genetics.
That's why the term "dominant" was used to mean "naturalists wanted to reveal the dominant(the more powerful) states of things in all areas of life". If you have any comment on my opinion, please let me know.

If someone knows about realism and naturalism, I'll be glad to get your comment whenever.

The naturalists see life as a futile struggle against forces that we cannot control, so they want to look at these forces and to try to describe them objectively. The realists are looking at social conditions among the poor while the naturalists are looking at human nature, the environment, etc- the forces inside and outside us in the environment that control and affect us and which are the greatest of them.
