    could/possibility

    Are these sentences correct:

    1-I was walking very carefully because the bridge could collapse.
    (... there was a chance that the bridge might collapse)
    2-We were not worried because the bridge couldn't collapse.
    (... it was impossible that the bridge should collapse.)
