The following exercises are copied from a Primary English book .

1. Did you see any car in the street?
2. Does he have any friends in Japan?
3 .Do you have any brother?
4. Does Tom have any pencils?
5. There aren't any children in the room.

For sentence 1, is it correct to say 'Did you see any cars in the street? ' instead of 'any car'?
For sentence 2, I think it should be 'Do you have any brothers?
For sentence 5, is it correct to say ' there isn't any child in the room.'?

Thanks for your help.

For sentence 1, is it correct to say 'Did you see any cars in the street? ' instead of 'any car'? Yes, it's far more common. One could argue that there's a distinction, but given the relative rarity of "any car", it's not worth it.

For sentence 2, I think it should be 'Do you have any brothers? Again, yes it's more common ... as above.
For sentence 5, is it correct to say ' there isn't any child in the room.'? Yes, but, as above, the plural would normally be used. For the singular, you can also say "There is no child in the room."

Thanks for your help.
Generally, the singular would be used if the speaker has a certain car or child in mind.
A: "Get the child from the room."
B: "There is no child in the room"
