    Default recycling

    Dear teachers,

Recycling, including composting, diverted 57 million tons of material away from landfills and incinerators in 1996, up from 34 milion tons in 1990---a 67 percent increase in just six years. In 2005, the diversion rate resulting from recycling and composting is projected to reach 83 million tons, or 35 percent of all solid waste.

In 2005, recyclig in the United States will divert 83 million tos of material from landfills and incinerators, about----

    a. a 67 percent increase in 15 years
    b. twice as much as in 1990
    c. twice as much as in 1996
    d. one third of all solid waste

"b" seems correct but the amount is much more than 68.
So "d" should be the correct answer. Is that right?

Looking forward to hearing from you.
    Thank you in advance.
