    Default Question about a transcript

I hear this from NPR News about Rick Santorum:

"Speaking in Lansing, he had a response to those who call him the back-office conservative message."

Does it sound natural to say "call him the back-office conservative message"?
Or did I catch some words like "call" incorrectly?

For your reference, the audio source is available at the following link, in the former part.
    podcastdownload.npr.org/anon.npr-podcasts/podcast/500005/147539338/npr_147539338.mp3

    Appreciation in advance.

They "called him to back off his conservative message".

If you want us to listen to something, please tell us approximately where it is on the recording - eg, "between 1.10 and 1.15". I nearly didn't listen when I saw that the whole thing was nine minutes long.

    Thank you very much.

And also it should be "call to him to", not "called him to", right?

"Speaking in Lansing, he had a response to those who [call to him to back off his] conservative message."
