Smile with a hint of twig

Hello. Could you please tell me what "with a hint of twig' means in this context?"
    Thank you.

    -----
(Here the speaker is a tree in the school play.)

Right on cue, I swished my branches and declared, in a loud, clear,
only faintly bored voice, with a hint of twig.

'So Robin and his merry men
    As happy as can be~'

    (Not a Teacher)

Apparently, the tree is 'singing' by swishing its branches. According to the tree, twigs can be heard rustling amidst all the swishing as well.
I wouldn't worry too much about it. Even I don't exactly know what is meant by 'a hint of twig'. It's just there 'for flavor' as far as I'm concerned.

    [AmE - not a teacher]

"with just a hint of X" is a common expression when describing the notes* of food and drink. It's meant to be clever/witty. Someone who could act to such a level as to control the "notes" would be indeed be very accomplished.

*2a : a characteristic feature (as of odor or flavor)
