    Shooting and Shoot-out

Just wanted to verify these two examples of 'shootings'.

If you read in the newspaper that "There was a shooting at the mall", I am assuming this means that one person had a gun and was firing at one or more persons.

If, on the other hand, you read "There was a shoot-out at the mall", here I would visualize a gun battle involving at least two individuals armed with guns who are firing at each other.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

    Rgs,
    Bill
