Default Pronunciation of The Unites States and The United Kingdom

    Dear all,
I am in two minds about the pronunciation of The United States and The United Kingdom, is "The" here pronounced as "thee" or "thuh" ? as i was taught in high school, "the" before words beginning by u will be pronounced "thuh" like "thuh" university. But the Oxford Dict pronounced "the" as "thee" in The Unites States. It would be so nice if someone make it clear to me.

You can use either. It doesn't matter.
