    Default Old Skull Shot?

Dear folks, what does David Leadbetter, a famous golf coach, mean by "old skull shot"? Or since this is from the transcript and he is British, may be he means "old scout shot"-if there is such expression?

"They take a club, they stand very square to the ball almost like they’re hitting a full shot and then they get very wristy, very handsie, trying to lift the ball in the air to some extent and then oops, there we go the old skull shot." (he's talking about chipping around the green)

To get a good shot in golf, first you need to square your position between the ball and the pin. When you hit the ball, you aim the face of the club at the bottom of the ball...near the tee. If you lift your rist or your arm at the last second the club ends up hitting the ball somewhere in the middle and your ball won't go very far. You have basically flubbed your shot. That's an old golf term.

tdol and Marylin, golfer or not, what both of you said has been very helpful.

tdol, according to the DVD, the ball does travel farther than expected, just like the webpage you referred me to says. It does help with understanding it. And Marylin's explanation helps with translating it (I'm translating it into Chinese).
    Thanks again.
