    Question how to find sub of result

    good morning sir

    please clear my confusion

    He erases the evidence by rubbing.(he rubs and evidence is erased)
    there is two action is performed but confusion is that if he rubs evidence then who erased it? because erasing is result but who is doer of result.
    we can make hundreds of sentences like this.

    He erasing the evidence by rubbing.

    She kills the worms by stepping on them.
    The job was completed early by working seven days a week.

    Do you not understand that the same "she" both steps on the worms and kills them?

    The "stepping" in this example is not a verb, but a gerund (a verb acting like a noun). It is the object of the preposition "by." The prepositional phrase "by stepping on them" acts as an adverb modifying the verb "kills."
