(The text tells us : trained monkeys know how to use token for food ,doesn't tell how many tokens each monkey has, and monkeys like grapes more than cucumber. )
"So when one monkey was handed a grape in exchange for her token , the sencond (who saw the fact.) was reluctant to hand hers over for a mere piece of cucumber."
My question is : Can you say " her token " refers to one token ?

My question is : Can you say " her token " refers to one token no space
The absence of a plural ending on the word 'token' strongly suggests that there was one token - unless the writer made a slip.
