    The perennial problem, in English coffee shops that sell "panini": do you grit your teeth, ask for "a three-cheese panini", and try to ignore the synaptic pain; or do you mystify the "barrista" by some such circumlocution as "could I have one of your three-cheese panini, please?"

    (Or plump for a sandwich instead?)
