    What's the point?

I'm not sure how I should understand the following in red in the context.

Alec Vance... vented to Steve by e-mail when his app showing a goofy George W. Bush cartoon clock counting down to "freedom time," which is when President Bush was set to leave office. Steve reasoned: "Even though my personal political leanings are democratic, I think this app will be offensive to roughly half our customers. What's the point?"

    Thank you.

    Re: What's the point?

"What's the point?" is a common phrase meaning "What is the/a good reason for doing this?" or "What's the objective?" In this case, Steve Jobs was saying that he really couldn't see the point (the reason) for launching an app which is going to be offensive to half of Apple's customers. That's really not a good thing for any company to do!
