    Doing your studies?

Context : I meets a young guy for the first time and asking what he is doing.

"“What do you do? Are you doing your studies?”

I need your help to know whether this question is correct?. Thanks in advance.....

I assume you don't want to ask him exactly what he is doing right now, at that moment, because of course he is meeting you. I would say:

    - What do you do? Are you studying?
    - What do you do? Are you a student?
    - Are you a student or do you work?

"Are you doing your studies?" sounds rather unnatural.
