[Grammar] He is not smart as you.

"He is not smart as / like you"

In my non-native sense and my mother language's influence, I think that the meaning of the sentence has three meanings, depening on contexts.


So, "you" here is not smart as well as "he".


Only "you" are smart here but "he" is not smart.


Or "he is smart but a little bit different way from "you" being smart.

Or native English speakers understand the sentence in the same way or it can be understood that ways in certain contexts?

Thank you as always and I am learning not only English but also a lot of things.

"He is not smart as you" is incorrect.

#1 means that he is less smart than you.
#2 means that he is not smart but you are.
