    Default was caused by?

    Teacher, is this sentence correct?

Her parents say her present anxiety was caused by the accident that happened last November.

The anxiety is current, I'd use "is."
A more natural sentence might be: Her parents say her anxiety started after her accident last November.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
