It works as long as you're happy that the second version has a totally different meaning from the first.

Context is important. Please provide enough for us to be able to deal effectively with your question.

Apologies. I misread the second version and didn't see the first "you". I thought the conversion just said "It depends on how you end up".
Now that I have re-read it, I agree they mean the same.
