Red face "alright" with the words " all right"

Could someone please differentiate the word "alright" with the words " all right"?
Their usage or function in sentence?
    Thanks so much!

These people are alright (they are okay, nice, etc.)

The answers are all right (all correct).

"Alright" was not a proper word when I was in school, and many consider it to be an error. I still use "all right" in all cases.

Even though I was a diligent student of grammar, spelling and punctuation at school, it was only when I started teaching that I stopped using "alright" and "eachother".
