    Default carrier of the family banner?

    The meaing of the following sentences is not clear to me. Please help me to clarify the meaing of words or phrase. Thanks in advance.

    1. The first born had his spot- carrer of the family banner. what does this sentence mean?

    2. There are seldom many pictures of the middle child and what photos there are have him included with the others.. 1) what is the function or what ( photos) here? is it a relative noun or a question word? 2) what does have mean here? does it have the same function as make or let? 3) finally, the second clause after conjunction and is gramatically acceptable ? if not, can you rephrase this sentence for me?

    3. Middle child tends to be the social lions of the family. what does it mean by social lions?

    4.She could have gotten another two thousand miles... but her point was still well made.1) what does it mean by gotten ? 2) what does the second clause after the conjuction but mean?

    Please help me to clarify the meaning of the given sentences above.

    1- the family has a name and reputation and he was expected to live up to it
    2- what photos there are = the few that exist
    3- a social lion is, I think, someone who is very popular
    4- it sounds as if it means 'gained'- can you supply a bit more context
    4- she explained her case well

    Thans for your reply. However, still I have questions about the second one--what photos... You explained what photos as few exist. Could you be more specific( I mean gramatically)?

    It's just an expression similar to 'such photos as there are'.
